TitleLa Processione Del Doge Nella Domenica Delle Palme Incisa in Venezia per Mattio Pagan (1556-69.)
ImprintVenezia: Ferd. Ongania editore, Anno MDCCCLXXX.
Physical Description[1] f., [8] pl.; 555×675 mm.
Physical Description NoteThe title leaf and the leaves carrying the reproductions of the woodcuts are loose within the covers. The reproduced cuts are tipped in. They show the originals as lettered A-H.
Content Format Note[T.p.] - [Plates].
Summary NoteThe original woodcuts reproduced here were probably intended to be displayed as one continuous sequence. They were lettered A-H and carried Latin captions identifying the persons and things represented: A. eight standards; B. six silver trumpets; C. ambassadors' servants and trumpets; D. servants of the Doge, and canons; E. the Patriarch, the white candle and ceremonial hat; F. the chair, the cushion; G. the Doge, the umbrella, ambassadors; H. senior officials.

The set may be viewed as a generic representation of a Dogal procession; but the standards in cut A are those of the Priuli, implying that the set represents either Doge Lorenzo Priuli (1556-9) or Doge Girolamo Priuli (1559-67).
Responsibility NoteNone of the reproductions is signed. The original block G carries the imprint, top left, 'In Venezia per Matthio pagano in Frezzaria al segno della Fede'. Pagano was probably not the woodblock-cutter but the printer and publisher.
