Biography
Began to spell his name as Maclise rather than McClise in 1835. Won Royal Academy Schools Silver Medal in 1829, two Silver Medals in 1830 (Figure Drawing and Copy Painting) and Gold Medal in 1831 for painting `The Choice of Hercules'.
