Wood-engraver, in Colchester and London. Brother of wood-engravers Thomas (b.1798) and Mary-Ann (b. ca. 1788); father of wood-engravers John Manning (bapt. 1832), Joseph Lionel (1832-77), Alfred Mayhew (bapt. 1832), Frederick George (bapt. 1832) and Emma (bapt. 1832).
