| Historical Background | C. W. Cope proposed an increase in the number of Associates at the General Assembly of 5 December 1859. Discussion of the motion then took place in Council. The resulting draft proposals for the reorganisation of the class of Associates were submitted to the Council on 16 and 25 June 1860, and to the General Assembly on 23 July 1860. The memorandum was then left in the charge of the Secretary for the perusal of members. |
