| Content Description | He sends thanks for £10 from Farington and then complains of Lord Camden visiting to see his finished portrait without paying, "mean" Lord Charlemont has not paid either; he shall keep up with his installments; he shall not take new sitters until the summer, only then at increased prices; he berates foreigners who gain fame from "fools" for half an hour's work to his "three or four"; he sees his major strength as being the ability in taking a face and "improving it"; he finishes by urging Farington to go with Geddes to see his pictures at Cox's Auction House, Geddes is already a "true painter" and comparable to Sir Joshua. |
