Historical BackgroundThe paintings were hung in two different rooms at the Summer Exhibition. Letter read at meeting of Council of 28 April 1888, and the Secretary instructed to reply that the Council were unable to comply with his request.
Content DescriptionHoll requests that the positions allotted by the Hanging Committee to two portraits by him, those of Gladstone and Sir William Jenner, be switched, so as to give that of Gladstone more prominence.
