| Content Description | He has been very hard at work on his pictures, but provides what intelligence he can regarding international politics; their friend in Charlotte Street is gravely ill; he sends to the [Academy] exhibition pictures of Lord Wellington, Blücher, Platoff, the Prince Regent, Prince Metternich, Mrs. Wolff and Hart Davis; Stothard, Bigg and Theed are on the Hanging Committee and have been very good in placing his pictures [he provides a diagram]; Callcott has sent a very fine picture, Turner has something "too daring but very grand", Hayter has not added to his undeserved reputation, Owen and Shee have not improved, Phillips he cannot judge, Thomson is worse, Dawe not better, he hasn't seen Howard, Sir William is better and there is a fine picture by Wilkie, an indiferent one by Bird, a poor one by Woodford. |
