| |HU/4 Original correspondence of Ozias Humphry, volume 4 1788-1795
| ||>HU/4/97 Ly. Amherst, to Ozias Humphry [1780s?]|
|Title||Ly. Amherst, to Ozias Humphry|
|Extent & Medium||1 piece|
|Content Description||She has no red lake nor any colour in powder. Nor has she any proper stumps, paper or frame. But she has done as well as she can since she saw Humphry.|
On the reverse is a list of names (see note field). Also the address of a Mr Hinde in Milton.
|Note||Endorsed on the reverse is a list of Academicians, names abbreviated. If one assumes that the individuals were alive when the list was made then it could be suggested that the letter dates from between 1781, and the election of P.J. de Loutherbourg, and 1788, the death of Gainsborough. This is flimsy evidence but it has been used to date this letter.|
