Content DescriptionHe expresses his sympathy that she has now had to nurse two friends to their grave; he speaks of the good nature of Mr. Adcock and points to the harshness of the law that prevents the marriage of a widower to his wife's sister; he has been invited to Charing for Christmas by Mrs. Wolff, Mrs. Hill and Mrs Marshall but cannot go as he has agreed to go to the Angerstein's in Christchurch; he mentions the completion of a recent trial over a painting purported to be by Claude; his brother [William] has gone to Haslar to stay with [his brother] Andrew.
