Physical Description[27] pl. (incl. t.pl. and engr. dedic.); 535 mm.
Content Format Note[T.pl., engr. dedic.] - [Plates].
Summary NoteThe work had first been published in 1837 (with the imprint, 'London. Hodgson & Graves, Printsellers To The King, 6, Pall Mall. MDCCCXXXVII. Printed at C. Hullmandel's Lithographic Establishment, 49, Great Marlborough Street'). The present issue carries no publication-date, but Henry Graves was not appointed Printseller to the Queen until 1839, and it was about 1844 that he began to publish independently as 'Henry Graves & Co.' (formerly having traded jointly with Moon, Boys, Hodgson or Warmsley). 'Day & Son' was the name of a firm which came into use in about 1852 (the firm formerly having been known as Day & Haghe).

The plates show interior and exterior views of buildings in Burgos, Madrid, Córdoba, Granada, Gibraltar, Jérez and Seville, with figures and animals.
Responsibility NoteMost plates are unsigned. A few are signed in the plate by David Roberts, or as lithographically printed by Day & Son. In the first issue (with imprint MDCCCXXXVII) the engraved dedication carried on its verso a list of the plates, in which the lithographers were named as T.S. Boys, W. Gauci, T. Allom, T.S. Cooper, L. Haghe and D. Roberts.

The work is dedicated by David Roberts to the Marquis of Lansdowne.
