Summary NoteThe publication-date of 1849 is given on the title page. One plate carries the date of 1825. In 1826 had been published in two volumes Picturesque Views of the Southern Coast of England from Drawings made principally by J.M.W. Turner, and engraved by W.B. Cooke, George Cooke, and other eminent engravers.

M. Holloway states that, though most prints were engraved on copper, nine may be engraved on steel.
