Summary NoteThis work was originally a series of views and maps published before 1674 by Jan Blaeu. The plates were first assembled with a text in 1682 as Theatrum statuum regiae celsitudinis Sabaudiae Ducis, Pedemontii Principis. In 1697 a Dutch version was printed in Amsterdam by Adriaan Moetjens, Tooneel der heerschappyen van zyn koninglyke hoogheyd den hartog van Savoy. Eventually the printseller Alberts acquired the copperplates and published in 1725 this French version and in 1726 the Latin, Novum Theatrum Pedemontii Et Sabaudiae. Some of the plates in this edition carry earlier dates - 1663 (2:44), 1666 (2:62), 1668 (1:[3]), 1675 (3:2), 1678 (1:[6]); one is dated 1725 (3: unnumbered pl. before pl. 13). Several head- and tail-pieces are dated 1725, two 1718.
Responsibility NoteThe frontispiece of Volumes I and II is signed as designed by G. Lairesse and engraved by A.Blooteling; that of Volumes III and IV, as designed by G. Lairesee and engraved by G. Valck. The vignette used on all four title pages is signed as made by F. Otten. Most plates are unsigned. A few are signed as designed or drawn by Ioannes Thomas Borgonius, Ioannes Paulus Morosinus, Iuvenalis Boettus Fossanensis or Innocente Guizzaro; one as painted by Labbe Bourdin, one as painted by Laurent du Sour. Some are signed as engraved or made by Ioannes de Broen, APerling, R. Nanteuil, I. Luyken, P. à Gunst, Romanus de Hooghe, Formentus, C. Decker, I. de Ram or Franciscus Toscanus. Headpieces and tailpieces are signed as drawn or engraved by Schynvoet, Francis Bottard, G. v. Gouwen, D. Coster, B. Picart, F. Ottens, 'JB'.

Only one plate carries the imprint of R.C. Alberts (vol. 3: unnumbered pl. before pl. 13); two retain the imprints of earlier publishers - vol. I:5 that of A. Moetjens, vol. 3: 1 that of Ioan. Blaeu.
