Summary NoteThe history concentrates on the period of the 5th and 6th centuries A.D. It draws on ancient writers such as Cassiodorus, Jordanes and Procopius, and, unfortunately, on the forgeries of Giovanni Nanni (1432?-1502) - the 'Gioanni Annio Viterbense' of the title.
Responsibility NoteThe name of the author, 'Didimo Ropaligero Liviano', is believed to be a pseudonym for Tommaso Mazza (d. 1688).
