Biography
Portrait-painter, draughtsman, engraver. Studied in Paris and (from ca. 1765) in London under Joshua Reynolds and in the Royal Academy Schools (entered 14th February 1769). Worked mainly in London, also in St Petersburg (1773-8) and Paris (1778-91). Member of the Society of Artists. Son of sculptor Etienne Maurice Falconet (1716-91).
