William Cotton, M.A., F.S.A.

Writer; collector; philanthropist. Lived in Surrey 1824-39; in Ivybridge, Devon, 1839 onwards. He inherited from his father a collection of works of art and books, which in 1853 he donated to the city of Plymouth. Son of William Cotton (1759-1816).
