Cadell and Davies (London)

Bookseller and publisher. Appointed Bookseller to the Royal Academy in 1812. After William Davies' death in 1820, Thomas Cadell Jun. carried on the business until his own death in 1836. Thereafter his executors continued to supply books and prints regularly to the Royal Academy until 1845 (see 'Quarterly Abstract of Bills', RAA/TRE/1/3). Cadell's copyrights were acquired by Longman and Co. for £8,400 on 2 June 1845 (see Asa Briggs, A history of Longmans and their books 1724-1990, London: The British Library, 2008, p. 221, n. 250).
