John Upton

Priest, editor of Arrian's 'Epictetus' (1739-41) and Spenser's 'Faerie Queene' (1758), and author of critical observations on Shakespear and Ben Jonson. Lived successively in Somerset and Gloucestershire. Son of schoolmaster James Upton (1671-1749).
