Biography
Art critic, art historian, journalist, painter, drawing-master, collector of paintings and china, in London. Studied at the Royal Academy schools (1844), where he met John Everett Millais and William Holman Hunt; a founder of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood (1848).
