Biography
Customs official; art collector, connoisseur, in London. In 1740 he inherited property in London and Richmond with a collection of prints, drawings and books from his friend William Townson (1682-1740). He enlarged the collections and bequeathed them to his brother-in-law William Cotton (1731-91).
