Architect, surveyor, writer on architecture, in London. Studied with his father and in Royal Academy Schools (1801). Son of architect George Gwilt the elder (1746-1909); brother of architect George Gwilt the younger (1775-1856); father of antiquary Charles Perkins Gwilt (1809-35) and architect John Sebastian Gwilt (1811-90).
