|
| Reference Code | LAW/9 |
| Level | Series |
| Title | Letters by Thomas Lawrence, preserved by Elizabeth Croft |
| Date | 1810-1829 |
| Extent & Medium | 1 vol, 19 items |
| Previous Reference Codes | 357 |
| Creator | Elizabeth Croft (1769-1856) |
| Acquisition | Deposited with the Royal Academy by the National Trust. |
| Arrangement | Items 1 - 74 have been sewn into a small morocco red scrapbook. |
| Physical Characteristics | Some letters have been mutilated, in all probability by Elizabeth Croft herself. Many letters from Lawrence to Croft are personal in tone and it appears likely that Croft was ensuring that Lawrence's most personal sentiments should remain a secret. This, of course, is deeply disappointing for the historian. |
